Instead of living always on the surface and constantly getting thrashed around like a buoy on the ocean because of criticism, a negative person or people who have very different views to you–go deep.
What does it mean to go deep?
I heard a story about a couple who had a picnic by a pond. The pond was smooth as glass. The husband threw a pebble into the centre of the pond and it rippled with high motion all the way to the end.
The husband said to his wife. ‘You know we can learn from this. Those fish have gone deep. They did not feel a thing with the strong ripple from the stone. They were deep enough down to not even notice it and just kept living their good life.’
So what does that mean for us?
I think if we go deep it means look inside ourselves. Have confidence in who we are. Be authentic and live the way we want. Wear what we want. Converse the way we want. We will attract the people who align with us. And those who don’t will be like the ripples on the surface of the pond and we won’t even take note of them.
If we are always just on the surface worried about what people think we stay stuck. Jarred by criticism or a nasty comment. Or frustrated by a person who seems so immature or inauthentic. We just bounce around in life like a buoy on the ocean. Every ripple or wave causes us to shake up a bit more. And chip away a bit more of our personal identity and path.
As we are confident (not arrogant) in ourselves we exude more positive energy and also have a lot more ability to let people be who they are, encourage them, care about them if we can. And if we can’t just walk away with no anger, bitterness or revenge. Just move on and let go.
I think if we connect to our higher selves (God, Universe, Source) that also gives us an added help from above and reminds us to keep going deep so we live our lives of purpose, passion and authenticity and stay on that path–not getting knocked about by every person who stamps on our direction.
How will your holiday be?
Many of us have family gatherings if we celebrate Christmas. Or we may have New Year’s get togethers. And in January we may travel to visit friends and relatives or just relax after the busy holiday time.
And we may go through a range of emotions in one day!
- so excited!
- loving the time
- so annoyed at a relative who is just so negative
- fun with family and friends
- so happy to have relatives fly in
Think about going deep. You don’t have to spend time on the negative experiences.
Recognise them and move on.
Do whatever you find helps you.
Meditate, seek guidance from Source, or just remind yourself that you can choose what you pay attention to. And there are always good aspects in every situation even if it is just a sliver of light coming through.
We always have a choice. What will you choose this holiday season and into 2017? Remember what you focus on expands.
Think the good stuff!
